Part of Calderdale Council, the Events and Film Office is staffed by a small team dedicating time to supporting film and TV production of all types proactively and reactively. It provides a single point of contact with industry knowledge, has an extensive network within the Council and the local area, and will troubleshoot where necessary.
A team of lateral thinkers, our role involves:
- Assisting with location scouting and management
- Maintaining a database of potential filming locations within the area, working with location managers to facilitate use of these locations
- Maintaining a database of facilities that support filming within the area
- Permitting and regulation, issuing permits and managing regulations related to filming within the area, such as road closures, drone permits, parking supensions
- Marketing and promotion of the area as a desirable film friendly location through media outreach and other marketing activities
- Developing the visitor experience for screen tourists/ meeting their need for knowledge about specific locations and the productions themselves via digital sources including maps, guides, and trails
- Championing a coordinated approach to join-up the screen and wider tourism offer across multiple locations/encourage visitors to experience more of what is on offer within the area
